Go See Sharon Gless in A Round-Healed Woman

December 30th, 2011

I’m not usually one for plays about 66 year old women who have been celibate for 30 years, who advertise in the personals section of a well known New York litery publication, looking for lots of sex with lots of men, however, having just seen Sharon Gless in A Round-Healed Woman, I have had a change of heart!

This would be just the perfect first date for any aspiring new couple, who want to have a great laugh, perhaps even at themselves, and then have some great moments to talk about over a drink in Covent Garden afterwards. Be warned, it is quite raunchy in places, but there some great laugh out moments too.

It’s playing at The Aldwych Theatre until Jan 14th 2012, so you only have 2 weeks to get along!!

Over 40, Not Over The Hill!!

October 26th, 2009

I thought I’d see if anyone can remember a few films that came out 25 years ago, and of course, to remind everyone that even if you were old enough to see them, it really means that your life has just begun!

So, in October 1984, Arnie starred in the blockbuster Terminator (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088247/), and coined one of the most famous film catch phrases ever, “I’ll be back”, in his thick Austrian accent!! And of course, he did come back in the the 1991 sequel, and the franchise continues!!

Arnie did the double in 1984, with the relaese of Commando (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0088944/), so he was one of the most successful and bankable stars in this year. Strange to think that he is now Governor of California!!

Also, in 1984, Paul McCartney tried his hand at writing, with the relaese of the critically panned, Give My Regards To Broad Street (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0087337/). Perhaps he should have stuck to what he was good at!!

Do you ever wonder what to talk about on a first date? maybe you become a little tongue-tied, well, help is at hand. A friend of mine had a promising first date with someone who he really liked, but after the small talk, he felt that the conversation was flagging a little, so he started to think of something to say to get things going, and decided to talk about music, and they ended up spending over 2 hours assembling there Top 10 favorite tracks, and ended up having a great evening, and have a 2nd date arranged for this Thursday. The moral of the tale? Find something you have in common with your date, and talk about it!! For more ideas on music, why not have a look at 1001 Albums To Hear Before You Die (http://www.listology.com/list/1001-albums-you-must-hear-you-die).

If you fancy taking your date out for a meal, then have a look at Love Money, who do a fantastic Frugal Friday feature, where they pull together all the best 2 for 1 deals and other great discounts on eating out, so check it out at http://www.lovemoney.com/news/shopping/frugal-food-4077.aspx?source=1000424

There are now only 8 dating weeks until Christmas, so why not sign up now, and see if you can find your dream date before Christmas, and find yourself in the fantastic position of having to think about choosing a suitable gift for someone special!

Good luck!!

Your lifesjustbegun if you can remember these October Events…

October 13th, 2009

Your lifesjustbegun if you can remember some of these events, all of which happened in the month of October.

In October 1978, when I was 13 years old, Sex Pistol Sid Vicious was charged with murdering his girlfriend in the Chelsea Hotel in Manhattan, New York. If you were pogoing around to the Pistols, and you’re looking for someone to relive those frenetic years with, then get searching for your perfect date at www.lifesjustbegun.com. You can reminisce over some of the other great punk bands of the era, such as The Clash, The Damned or The Stranglers. You’ll never be short of something to talk about!

Love it or hate it, in October 1976, the Queen opened the National Theatre on the South Bank. The building, designed by Sir Denys Lasdun, is made up of three theatres, the Olivier, the Lyttleton, and the Cottlesloe. With its striking architecture, and thriving Thames side cafes and restaurants, the National is an ideal place to meet your date. Why not sit in one of the bars, watch the pleasure boats ply their trade on the river, and find out all the things you have in common. Why not take in a show, or have a romantic meal for 2. To find out what’s on at The National Theatre, go to:

or to find some great restaurants, why not go to Top Table, who have some great offers, and really helpful reviews, so you can choose just the right setting for your date, visit them at www.toptable.com.
